Objective

I have completed a M.S. from Auburn University in the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Sciences with a focus in Nutrition. My masters research has focused on feed management in the pond production of Pacific white shrimp. Throughout my research, I directed two production cycles of shrimp at scaled farm facility. In addition to my research, I had opportunities to work with a variety of recirculating systems for catfish, tilapia, shrimp, pompano, and red drum. I also had opportunities to work in a red drum hatchery run by the Alabama Department of Natural Resources.

Education

M.S. Aquaculture Nutrition- Auburn University- 2017 B.S. Wildlife Ecology and Conservation- University of Florida- 2015 Lake Wales High School- 2011

Experience

Field Technician- Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association I worked in a remote field camp monitoring salmon smolt escapement, adult salmon return, and removing invasive northern pike. This job involved a lot of independent and unsupervised work and required resourcefulness to solve problems due to a lack of resources. This job also involved a human dimension aspect because not everyone was supportive of having the pike taken out of the lake. ***** Assistant Aquaculture Technician- Florida Organic Aquaculture I participated in the day-to-day activities of feeding, cleaning, monitoring, and harvesting the shrimp in a large scale biofloc system. After my initial training, much of my work was performed on the night shift alone or with one other employee. In addition to the production activities, I regularly participated in sales calls to deliver live shrimp to active accounts and pitching to other potential buyers. ***** Research Assistant- University of Florida I worked as an assistant to graduate students performing research, both in the field and the lab. Many of the tasks involved hands on experience with agronomic crops, collecting scientific data, heavy equipment operation, and monitoring the operation of field specific instruments. I also gained experience in experimental design and execution in a study that I led on hydrotropism in peanut tap roots.
