To conclude, high dietary DHA contents can have adverse effects on European seabass larvae and high doses of vitamin E are not able to completely counteract ROS. Indeed they can contribute to altering the oxidative status of larvae. Although selenium and vitamin C balance the removal of ROS, further studies are necessary to fully elucidate the interrelations among these nutrients, the molecular mechanisms by which they act and interact, and their adequate combination to completely avoid the negative effects of oxidative stress in seabass larviculture.
