Return on Investment was promising for land-water resources management through small enterprise development for poor people with small investments. Economic return from the unutilized waterlogged areas could help the rural people to build strength for a better mind set and confidence in their sound livelihoods. So, rural people of Bangladesh can use aquaculture as a benefit for capacity building and other adaptive means in the face of climate change. Conclusion The study revealed that the poor people, who form the most vulnerable group in the waterlogged area, require maximum extension support to use dormant waterlogged areas for aquaculture development. Technical and financial assistance from the government, researchers, NGOs, donors, investors, private entrepreneurs and community-based organizations are essential to support their activities by promoting sustainable aquaculture for the improvement of socio-economic status of rural people (Das et al. 2009). The rotational culture of paddy rice in the dry season and fish in the rainy season may be economically viable and ecologically suitable. Integrated aquaculture and agriculture can bring attractive returns for the surrounding community. The results of this project will be essential in the formulation of comprehensive and effective utilization of the waterlogged areas of Begumgonj. Community-based aquaculture resulted in promising outputs from the underutilized waterlogged areas with locally available resources for income generation. Depending on the low cost of extensive farming practices of an organic nature, there is a great scope of autonomous expansion for adaptation and quick recovery from climate vulnerability. To reach a broader audience across the whole waterlogged area where the community-based aquaculture practice has not yet been initiated, people could play a vital role in the dissemination of technology by telling their success story to neighbors and relatives.
