Recently there has been an increased interest in the immune-stimulating function of medicinal herbs in aquaculture. Some herbs stimulate non-specific defense mechanisms of fish and elevate the specific immune response. Herbal additives are also used as growth promoters, stress resistance boosters and preventatives of infections in fish. Moreover, herbal treatment is cost-effective and eco-friendly, with minimal side effects.
