Aquatic veterinary medicine can be incorporated successfully into both companion and

livestock production practices. Veterinarians may be called upon for VFDs or health exams for

aquaculture production clients as well as questions from clients with pet fish. DVM students

and graduates of institutions lacking formal aquatic training may be unsure of the opportunities

that exist to further their knowledge and experience in the field of aquatic animal medicine.

Others may be looking to expand on the training they have already received. Attendees will be

guided through the formal and informal training experiences of the author as well as learn

about additional opportunities available. This dynamic talk includes descriptions of the

trainings, an honest assessment of each opportunity, photographs, videos and time for

questions participants may have about the trainings. This presentation will also provide

practitioners with resources for consulting or connecting clients with experienced aquatic

veterinarians
