The United States Aquaculture Society (USAS) Student Subunit at Auburn University actively promotes aquaculture and fosters student engagement through various outreach initiatives. Some of our key events include the annual shrimp sale fundraiser, which not only supports student activities but also engages the Auburn community by showcasing homegrown shrimp from Auburn University’s Gulf Shores facility. We also host school and community tabling events, guest speaker sessions, and the annual student professional mixer, partnering with the American Fisheries Society (AFS) Student Subunit to expand networking opportunities and recruitment. These initiatives foster leadership, promote professional development, and strengthen connections within the aquaculture community, demonstrating the impact of student-led outreach.
