Ohio fish aquaculture producers have been exposed to three farm tours in a lapse of two years. During the first year, 2024, a total of 11 participants had the opportunity to visit aquaculture farms in Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana and Illinois. In 2025, a total of 9 participants were able to visit aquaculture production systems both in academic and commercial settings in Indiana and Wisconsin.

Aquaculture production systems included hatcheries, grow out earthen ponds, aquaponics facilities, biofloc, pond side tanks, and recirculating aquaculture systems. Species cultured included marine shrimp, yellow perch, walleye, tilapia, artic char, altantic salmon and rainbow trout. Reflections on attitudes or beliefs, and perceived benefits gained from participation in the program were compiled using pre- and post- surveys for all trips. Impacts from year 1 were reported via direct communication during the year 2 program.

This activity was possible thanks to the Ohio Soybean Council by the grant OSC 24-D-34.
