As aquaculture evolves to meet global sustainability goals, the new GIZ Global Programme: ‘Sustainable Aquatic Food’ (GP-SAF) reflects a broader approach to managing aquatic resources responsibly. This session at AFRAQ 2024 will explore how aquaculture systems can remain productive while respecting planetary boundaries, offering insights from both extensive production systems and innovative, technology-driven practices.
The session is divided into two slots, each addressing critical aspects of sustainable aquaculture and the transition toward more holistic resource management. An interactive discussion, supported by the ‘Mentimeter’ tool, will be conducted to foster a mindset shift, encouraging participants to think about how innovations can enhance aquaculture productivity within environmental limits.
