Engineering activity of culture of Penaeus monodon still doing at aquaculture business center (ABC) Karawang-West Java, Indonesia. One of the engineering activities was to apply bacterial substrate. The aim of this technic was to obtain information of applying bacterial substrate in culturing P. monodon. Four ponds used for that activities which one pond for control and three other for treatments, besides each pond had been 1.000 M2 in wide. For control pond there was without bacterial substrate (Pond C). Three ponds set with bacterial substrate which consisted of one pond set with bacterial substrate at the bottom of pond (Pond B), one pond set with bacterial substrate at the dike of pond (Pond D), and one pond set with bacterial substrate at all of surface of pond (Pond A). The shrimp density each pond was 40 individuals/m2. Closed water system, minimize water exchange, and biosecurity farm level had been applied in this culture. The results of that engineering activity that shrimp biomass of Pond C, Pond B, Pond D and Pond A were 269.81, 339.97, 293.22, and 269.81 kg. For ADG of Pond C, Pond B, Pond D and Pond A were 0.15, 0.17, 0.13 and 0.15 gr/day. For survival rate of Pond C, Pond B, Pond D and Pond A were 58.04, 45.22, 51.29 and 40.66%. For FCR of Pond C, Pond B, Pond D and Pond A were 1.34, 1.51, 1.42 and 1.63. All ponds showed proper water quality parameters for P. monodon culture. Base on the data observation revealed that pond without bacterial substrate (control pond) had higher obtaining of Penaeus monodon culture than pond with bacterial substrate.
