THE Technology Improvement For Managing  Parent Stock Of Silver Pompano (Trachinotus blochii, Lacepede) In Providing BETTER Quality Of  Eggs For Sustainable Seeds Availability

Silver pompano is one of the marine fishery commodity that has high economic value and has been produced massively  both seeding and growing  in " Balai perikanan dan budidaya laut Batam" The demand of silver pompano seeds is increasing from time to time therefore the concrete action must be made to support the availability of seeds. One of the action is improving the technology for managing the parent stock of bawal bintang .

The method that has been made is a series of technological improvement for managing bawal bintang parent stock. It starts from selecting the candidate for parent stock and breeding the parent stock as well as managing  the food management, managing good quality of water for cultivation.

Aside from that some other state of the art  technologies that are invented by " Balai Perikanan budidaya laut ( BPBL)  have also been applied. Among others are the improvement of water quality for cultivation such as the implementation of recirculation system and enrichment of nutrition in  moist pellet.

The eggs produced by implementing parent stock cultivation  in BPBL Batam  and by using the technological improvement  has shown a significant result. The silver pompano parent stock can breed  naturally and can provide sustainable  eggs, the amount of  eggs production  and also the eggs quality  are also better . The parent stock  silver pompano can breed 3 times every bright moon. The average eggs produced are 800.000 - 1.000.0000 eggs every month with fertility rate is 90% -95% and hatching rate is 85%-90%. The diameter of the eggs is around 0.8 - 1.0 mm transparent seeds.
