PERFORMANCE OF Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius djambal HYBRID AND Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius nasutus HYBRID IN THE HIGHLAND.

One effort in order to fullfill the needs of white meat of pangasius for export is doing hybridization between species of pangasiid. Pangasius djambal and P. nasutus is an Indonesian  fish which has a white meat , but both have low egg production ( fecundity) so do hybridization with Pangasius hypophthalmus that have  high fecundity. It hopes can mass produced and continuous so that it can be used as freshwater fish commodities. This study aim to determine the performance of Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius djambal hybrid and Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius nasutus hybrid maintained in the highland.

The location chosen is Waduk Darma in Kuningan which have a height of > 400 above sea level. 6 pieces of floating net ( KJA ) size 3x2x1,5 m2 were used to maintenance. The fish used are Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius djambal hybrid with an average weight of 21,95 g / species and Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius nasutus hybrid with an average weight of 20,98 g / species. Fish stocking density used is 150 species / net with long maintenance for 5 months. Feed used was a commercial feed in the form of pellets with a crude protein content of 30-32 % is given in stages as much as 5 % -3 % of body weight .

The results showed that the growth of Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius djambal hybrid have higher growth with an average final weight of 240,88 g, the specific growth rate of 1,62% / day and the fish biomass of 31017.83 g , while the Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius nasutus hybrid have an average final weight of 119,32 , the growth rate of 1,16 % / day and the fish biomass of 17094,23 g . For survival and FCR values Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius nasutus hybrid much higher in the amount of 95,56 % and 2,95, while for the Pangasius hypophthalmus - Pangasius djambal hybrid amounted to 85,56 % and 1,91.
