Join Tassal’s Mission Beach farm as a Senior Farm Technician, where you’ll lead technical and operational excellence in our prawn farming operations. This pivotal role combines hands-on farm management with team leadership, ensuring optimal animal health, water quality, and sustainable production. You’ll drive business priorities, foster a safety-first culture, and collaborate across teams to deliver on Tassal’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead daily farm operations, including pond remediation, stocking, water quality management, feeding operations, aeration management and prawn health monitoring.
• Drive biosecurity compliance, ensuring adherence to protocols and certification requirements.
• Analyse data (water quality, prawn health, feeding) to troubleshoot issues and optimise performance.
• Mentor and collaborate with teams, sharing technical knowledge and fostering a cohesive, safety-focused culture.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
• Adapt priorities to meet operational demands with a “one business” mindset.

Requirements

Role requirements:

• Proven background in aquaculture/farm operations (prawn farming highly regarded).
• Pond/water quality management.
• Prawn health assessment and biosecurity practices.
• Data-driven decision-making.
• Ability to train teams, resolve issues, and uphold Tassal’s values.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., aquaculture, biology) or willingness to obtain.
• Forklift/backhoe/FEL/digger tickets highly regarded.
• Adaptability in fast-paced environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration.
• Commitment to safety and sustainability.
• Full working rights in Australia.
• Driver’s licence.
