Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability, Grant PositionResponsibilities:
● Lead and support ongoing aquaculture projects through planning, designing, and implementing scientific experiments
● Collect, analyze, and visualize data generated from scientific experiments using statistical programs such as R, GraphPad Prism, SPSS, and Microsoft Excel
● Document, report, and present key research findings and progress during weekly research meetings
● Plan, design, operate, and produce scientific manuscripts on artemia production
● Generate high-quality scientific manuscripts through conducting research, drafting, and editing write-ups, in addition to supporting the review process
● Facilitate the generation of compelling research grant proposals by conducting literature reviews, generating preliminary experimental results, as well as editing documents for accuracy and clarity
● Perform other miscellaneous duties in support of various research activities as the need arises
● Generate high-quality scientific manuscripts through conducting research, drafting and editing write-ups, in addition to supporting the review process
● Facilitate the generation of compelling research grant proposals through conducting literature reviews, generating preliminary experimental results, as well as editing documents for accuracy and clarity
● Assist in designing climate change aquaculture-related research and programs for the communities
● Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience:
● Master’s degree in aquaculture, fisheries, marine biology, zoology, or any other related field
● At least four years of relevant research experience is needed for this position
● Proof of research publication knowledge and experience of at least three scientific publications
Technical Skills:
● Molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extractions, PCR, RT-qPCR, and enzymatic assays
● Tissue sample, blood, and serum extraction from fish and shellfish, e.g. shrimp
● Excellent biocontrol practices in aquaculture production facilities
● Knowledge of and experience in aquaponics, biofloc technology, and recirculating aquaculture systems
● Knowledge of artemia production and other aquaculture feed formulations is an added advantage
● Good computer skills in Microsoft packages, e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
● Use of any of the following statistical tools: SPSS, R, Python, or GraphPad
● Excellent command and fluency in English
● Excellent scientific writing skills
● Flexibility and ability to work under pressure
● Basic know-how of laboratory equipment
