Job Details

The Aquaculture Certification Program at SCS Global provides high-quality, 3rd-party auditing and consulting services worldwide. The breadth of the program’s operation ranges from small, family-owned shrimp concessions to large, vertically integrated salmon-producing corporations. Assessments involve document review, employee and contractor interviews, and on-site evaluation of field activities. Detailed assessment reports must be written and submitted on time. SCS Global Services provides ongoing training.Relevant Services/Standards

  • Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plan and carryout onsite assessments of aquaculture operations against the applicable standards.
  • Engage with stakeholders to explain the audit process and record and address any comments provided.
  • Audit Coordination
  • Schedule and confirm audit date with client
  • Prepare and send client audit plan according to protocols
  • Book travel, hotel and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reports
  • Audit Services
  • Adhere to all quality and code of conduct standards
  • Conduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and tools
  • Maintain positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns
  • Submit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelines
  • Ensure thorough client records are maintained
  • Attend trainings to maintain qualification to conduct audits; maintain training records
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable regulations and standards

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSc required in aquaculture, food science, environmental science, or related field.
  • 2+ years working experience in Feed Mill production or operations.
  • Must have English and Japanese language fluency.
  • Valid passport.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Ability and interest in travel to remote locations. Auditing may require international travel and extensive hours in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience in 3rd party auditing to Aquaculture or similar standards.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of relevant standards and auditing procedures.
  • Documentation of successful training to ASC species standards.
  • Evidence of lead auditor training course based on ISO 19011 principles.

Physical Requirements

  • This position is an office-based job primarily, with occasional travel to client sites. Ability to sit/stand at a computer station for 6+ hours/day, ability to travel via private/public transportation and carry luggage, ability to walk and stand for 2+ hours/day when auditing. Must be able to speak and listen to employees and customers virtually and in person.

Work Environment

  • This is an office-based job majority of time
  • Aquaculture field and food facilities during audits, and auditor assessment activities.
