What you'll do as a Senior Water Quality and Aquatic Ecology Advisor : As a Senior Water Quality Advisor, you'll work in a team with colleagues on water quality projects for water boards, Rijkswaterstaat, or the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. For example, for the Water Framework Directive. Data collection, processing, and analysis are often key components of these projects. Using R scripting, we process this data and convert it into information in figures or tables that we can use to answer the client's questions. The data includes measurements from biological monitoring, such as aquatic plants, macrofauna, or fish. It also often includes chemical monitoring data for nutrients, pesticides, or pharmaceutical residues in surface water. You'll translate the results of the data analysis into recommendations. These questions and recommendations are relevant at the level of individual water bodies, river basins, or the entire country. In projects, you'll collaborate with various colleagues from different disciplines, fulfilling the role of project leader and advisor. As an advisor, you'll be adept at documenting the procedures used and interpreting the results. Together with your team, you'll incorporate the procedures and results into a comprehensive report with clear conclusions and recommendations for further development for the client. As a project leader, you'll maintain client contact and be responsible for budgets and planning, as well as managing contractual and financial administration. You can also act as an advisor for water quality or aquatic ecology in multidisciplinary projects, such as biodiversity projects or projects for the protection or improvement of Natura 2000 areas with an aquatic component. Some examples of projects we carry out related to water quality and aquatic ecology: Analyses of WFD target achievement, such as the 2021 Ex-ante evaluation and Basics in Order. WFD system analyses and target setting for multiple water boards Comparison of WFD standards abroad. Establish a framework for deriving effluent standards.
