Job Details
Dedicated Project Associate- Fisheries will provide knowledge support towards climate-adaptive sustainable aquaculture practices. The candidate will manage and implement climate-adaptive fisheries practices/initiatives within designated clusters. The person will have experience in technically handling aquaculture-related projects. The person should demonstrate capabilities to multitask, coordinate projects, and provide field support. The role demands working with local communities to enhance sustainable climate-adaptive livelihoods with an EbA and all-inclusive approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the on-ground execution of fishery projects across the assigned cluster, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Travelling frequently to ongoing and proposed sites of project interventions in rural landscapes.
- Engaging with farmers and dependent communities to encourage sustainable practices and active participation in initiatives.
- Providing comprehensive technical guidance on climate-adaptive agricultural practices to improve productivity and income generation to the underlying community groups.
- Organising and conducting training sessions, workshops, and demonstrations on best practices in the fishery sector for local communities.
- Monitoring project progress through scientifically validated technical parameters, collecting field-level data, and preparing timely reports for consideration by the higher management, striving towards project delivery and achievement of assigned targets.
- Collaborating with local authorities, government departments, NGOs, and other key partners to ensure effective project delivery.
- Promoting responsible and sustainable aquaculture practices to ensure sustained and tangible long-term environmental benefits.
- Assisting in logistics, field visits of higher officials/teammates, and performing administrative duties as required to keep projects functioning smoothly
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fishery Science, or a closely related field.
- Established working experience of a minimum of 2 years in the aquaculture/ fishery sector.
- Fluency in the local language (Marathi), with working knowledge of Hindi and English.
