The journal Aquaculture, Fish and Fisheries (AFF) (Wiley) is keen to embody the worldwide aquatic science and fisheries community and to ensure its Editorial Board is representative of the many research interests spanning these research fields. At AFF, we aim to be inclusive and celebrate diversity. As such, we’re always looking for ways to expand our editorial team, outside of our personal networks, to be better representative of our community. We invite applications to join the Editorial Board and also the Junior Editorial Board from researchers specializing in only one of the following areas:
- Natural Fisheries Sciences - Biological & Ecological Sciences: fish ecology, population dynamics, biodiversity, climate impacts, stock assessment, conservation, Technological Sciences: gear technology, aquaculture–fisheries interactions, innovation in monitoring and management tools
- Social Fisheries Sciences - Social & Human Dimensions: governance, policy, co-management, socioeconomics, livelihoods, food security, indigenous and local knowledge, sustainability transitions
- Interdisciplinary Fisheries Science Approaches: for instance, bridging natural and social sciences to advance sustainable fisheries
- Omics Expertise (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, epigenetics, systems biology, etc.), in relation to Aquaculture species (plants and animals, Wild populations, Fisheries management and conservation, and Aquatic ecosystems
Requirements
Criteria
- Junior Editorial Board (JEB) Postdoctoral fellows, or early-career researchers (within 5 years of PhD completion), Several original research publications in peer-reviewed journals, Demonstrated expertise in a field relevant to the journal, and Previous experience as a reviewer.
- Full Editorial Board (EB) Established researchers with an academic or professional appointment (assistant, associate, or full professor, or equivalent), Strong publication record, Evidence of leadership in the field, Prior experience as a reviewer or editorial board member.
The role of an Editorial Board Member may include:
- Offering feedback on difficult manuscripts (e.g., split decisions) and occasional comprehensive reviews to assist with article recommendations.
- Chance to suggest topics, debates, or themes that you would like to see in the journal.
- Opportunity to meet with the Editor-in-Chief and/or other board members online and/or at a conference
- Contributing to journal activities, such as Special Issues and collections, that will help the journal flourish.
- Networking and advocating on behalf of AFF within the community to potential new authors or readers.

Applications will be evaluated in an ongoing manner until November.
Do note that Editorial Board membership does not preclude anyone from submitting their work to the journal.
