We are currently looking for a Senior Aquatic Biologist to join the EP&P Group in our St. John’s, NL office to administer over Projects throughout Atlantic Canada. 

 

Your challenges with us!
 

  • Lead and grow the fisheries and aquatic discipline for Atlantic Canada as part of our existing environmental consulting practice in the areas of environmental assessments and permitting.
  • Contribute to mining, energy and infrastructure sectors in Atlantic Canada and across the country.
  • Identify and develop EP&P related business opportunities with clients and companies working in the mining, energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Provide leadership, technical direction, peer review and advice within our Environment & Sustainability Group focusing on fisheries and aquatics.
  • Offer strong Project Management skills, coordination of key environmental and client deliverables.
  • Participate in resource planning, mentorship and advisory leadership to project teams.
  • Work collaboratively with integrated, multidisciplinary teams, liaising with and supporting global peers.
  • Recruit and develop Hatch’s next generation of environmental leaders.

Requirements

Your profile:

  • Post-secondary education in aquatic environmental sciences, aquatic biology and/or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in biology, environment, or related field is an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth understanding of fisheries and aquatic baseline surveys, environmental assessment, permitting and approvals and regulatory requirements across Canada and within provinces and territories.
  • Experience working on major projects.
  • Experience in an engineering firm is an asset.
  • Creative and approachable and a team player with a willingness to recommend innovative solutions to clients.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to develop personal networks.
  • Strong organizational skills and autonomy.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and integrated team environment.
  • Interest for working in a fast paced, consulting environment.
  • A willingness to proactively meet clients’ needs whether big or small.
  • Available for occasional travel within Canada.
