The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.
We are looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in Materials Science in the field of encapsulation-related technologies. The RF will be responsible for developing innovative solutions in the encapsulation of active agents such as nutraceuticals, novel immunostimulants etc in fish feeds for broodstocks in order to optimize egg and larval quality. This position provides an exceptional opportunity to engage in impactful, interdisciplinary research in a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research team. It also provides opportunities to closely interact with industry leaders in aquaculture and to contribute to national interests in food security.
Key Responsibilities 
- Participate in the conduct of research project with research team members to ensure completion of deliverables.
- Lead the design, performance and optimization of experiments with scientific rigor.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
- Communicate findings clearly through technical reports, papers, and presentations.
- Collaborate effectively within the group and with external stakeholders.
- Be willing to mentor both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Work collaboratively with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
- Assist in grant writing.
- Maintenance of lab or equipment or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers.
Requirements
Job Requirements
- PhD degree in Materials Science, Food Science or a related field in science or engineering.
- Solid foundation in encapsulation technologies of nutraceuticals, as evidenced by documented research experience, e.g., journal publications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
- Research experience in aquaculture in relation to encapsulation technologies is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details, excellent organizational / time management skills.
