WellFish Tech is looking for an Aquaculture Veterinarian to contribute to the growth and strategic development of the company, drive innovation in fish health management, and provide high-quality veterinary services to clients in the aquaculture industry.
This role is pivotal in integrating clinical expertise with biochemistry insights to enhance and expand our services. The successful applicant will represent the company at industry events, fosters client relationships, and ensure reports are actionable, credible, and tailored to client needs.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a clinical expert, interpreting health data and providing actionable veterinary insight to support fish welfare and farm performance.
- Analyse blood biochemistry and other diagnostic results to deliver clear, evidence-based reports.
- Conduct on-site health assessments and advise clients on proactive, preventative fish health strategies.
- Build strong client relationships and provide training on best practices and sampling techniques.
- Contribute to R&D and innovation in fish health diagnostics and biomarker development.
- Represent WellFish Tech at meetings, conferences, and industry events.
- Support continuous improvement in quality systems, documentation, and data handling.
Requirements
Essential qualifications skills & experience
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a veterinarian in the UK
- Strong knowledge of fish health and aquaculture systems
- Understanding of blood biochemistry and its application in fish health management
- Proficiency in technical writing and the ability to produce detailed, actionable reports
- Familiarity with veterinary regulations, including fish health policies
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Self-motivated and target-driven with excellent time-management and prioritisation askills
- The ability to work individually and with colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent customer skills
- Flexible and able to travel nationally and internationally as needed
Desired attributes
- Postgraduate or specialised training or certifications in aquaculture, fish health, biochemistry, biology or pathology
- At least 2 years of experience in veterinary practice, within which at least 1 year of focus on aquaculture or aquatic species
- Familiarity with conducting on-site assessments and providing veterinary recommendations for fish health management
- Demonstrated ability in designing tailored solutions for regional industries
- Knowledge of global aquaculture practices, particularly in regions such as Norway, Scotland, or Chile
- Participation in R&D projects or collaborations with academic or industry partners
- Previous experience representing an organisation at national and international conferences or workshops
- Experience with the development of health surveillance programs
- Experience with data-driven diagnostic tools or software
