As an Aquaculture Consultant at FAI, you will support the Aquaculture Welfare Project in Brazil, working with partner farms and companies. You will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team committed to strengthening resilience in aquaculture through local actions with global impact and digital solutions for food brands and their suppliers.
This is a hybrid role that requires solid knowledge in aquaculture (especially tilapia farming) and/or food supply chains associated with aquaculture, with the ability to work on multiple fronts.
Tasks
Main Responsibilities
Technical and Scientific Deliverables

Work with the Program Manager and other consultants to deliver:
- Training and Education
- Implementation of the Tilapia Welfare Assessment protocol (and other standards when necessary)

Farm welfare assessments
- Evaluation of project partners in relation to certification standards such as Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)
- Support FAI's R&D activities with partners.
- Produce technical briefings, literature reviews, case studies, and reports on areas such as tilapia welfare, nutrition, health, environment, and behavior.
- Provide recommendations for improvement actions.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Verify and analyze evaluation data.

Prepare reports using FAI data tools.
Project Coordination
- To monitor the implementation of well-being practices by partners.
- Review activities and support planning.
- Produce content for engagement.
- Participate in in-person and online meetings and record minutes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- To support the development and testing of FAI's digital solutions.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the aquaculture welfare project.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Aquaculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine or related fields (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience in food supply chains (with a focus on fish farming), sustainability consulting, or fish welfare.
- Knowledge of BAP and ASC certifications or aquaculture improvement projects.
- History of collaborative work with teams and partners.
- Ability to produce high-quality technical materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel) and data management.
- Advanced English (written and spoken)

- Comfortable working remotely and comfortable traveling regularly.
Location and Availability
Based in Brazil , preferably in Londrina-PR , with availability for travel as needed. Estimated time commitment: 50% in the field and 50% in administrative tasks (reviews, reports, meetings) .
