Associate Specialist, Research (Fish Husbandry Specialist)

Job Details

Job scope and responsibilities:

Aqua Lab management

  • Demand and supply fish for all R&D and QC studies and programs.

  • Fish surveillance (Source and maintain a steady supply) and health monitoring.

  • Maintenance schedule and forecast for equipment pass its depreciation Facility management.

  • Conduct regular inspections of facility systems and equipment.

  • Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs, report the need for major repairs or additional maintenance.

  • Manage services like electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

  • Adhere to standard operational procedures, including biosecurity, safety, and quality standards.


Daily operations and maintenance

  • Monitor and manage fish welfare, ensuring fish are healthy and properly fed.

  • Perform daily maintenance on facility systems, including pumps and filters.

  • Clean tanks, equipment, and the general facility area.

  • Respond to emergencies and address any system malfunctions immediately.


Assist on Environment Health and Safety with GSE (Global Safety and Environment)

  • Upkeep EHS documentation for Audit purposes

  • Implement E-Permit for High-Risk Work (HRW)

  • Manage Refrigerant Compliance Management Software for our Animal Health Division

  • Manage RACI (Responsible/Accountable/Consult/Informed) between Stakeholders (Animal Health Division) and IFM (Sodexo).

  • Project Manager for any equipment change when there is an EHS impact or when a facility modification is required.

  • Project Manager for any equipment change under small investment or capital investment.

  • Point of contact for all MOC updates and to ensure compliance standards are met.

  • Assist Biosafety Officer Role

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in a related field like fish biology, aquaculture, animal science, or applied engineering.

  • A good understanding of aquatic animal species, water quality management, and sustainable practices is essential, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues and find cost-effective solutions to keep the facility running efficiently.

  • Holder of LEW (Licensed Electrical Worker) a plus.
