Aquaculture Technical Expert (Shrimp Farming)

Job Details

Aquaculture Technical Expert serves as Aquarev’s senior-most technical authority in intensive shrimp farming. This role is responsible for elevating farm performance across multiple sites by providing expert troubleshooting, optimizing production metrics (SR, FCR, ADG), strengthening SOP compliance, and coaching field teams. This position will play a key role in diagnosing critical issues, ensuring high biosecurity and water quality standards, and guiding supervisors and technicians toward consistent, high-performing farming operations.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical reference for all farm sites, leading rapid troubleshooting for critical issues such as mortality spikes, DO drops, disease outbreaks, water-quality deviations, and feeding problems, while providing swift corrective recommendations.
  • Develop, refine, and ensure adherence to farming SOPs (pond preparation, water treatment, feeding, biosecurity, sampling, and harvest), including conducting routine technical audits for compliance and consistency.
  • Analyze production and water-quality data (FCR, SR, ADG, WQ trends) to identify root causes and propose optimization strategies to meet Aquarev’s production targets; prepare clear technical reports for management.
  • Provide training and technical support to field coordinator and technicians through structured coaching, knowledge transfer, and hands-on guidance in troubleshooting and technical execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Business Development and Management teams to align technical needs, resolve cross-functional issues, and provide input on equipment and infrastructure improvements.
  • Oversee the maintenance and readiness of farm assets, inventory, and infrastructure (including ponds, pipes, aerators, and supporting equipment) to ensure operational reliability and continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Biology, or related field, with 7–10 years of experience in intensive shrimp farming.
  • Prior roles as Senior Technician, Section Head, Site Manager, or Technical Manager, with experience managing multi-site & multi-pond operations (10–80+ ponds).
  • Strong technical expertise in improving production performance (SR, FCR, ADG), managing disease, water quality, and handling critical troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and scientific thinking, with the ability to interpret farm data to guide actions and solve operational issues.
  • Excellent communication and ability to make fast decisions.
