Job Details
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Aquatic Technician to join our team, supporting the installation, maintenance, and servicing of marine and freshwater aquariums, as well as pond systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with aquatic environments or a strong interest in aquatics, along with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, professional approach. Full training will be provided, and a company van with a fuel card will be supplied for work-related travel. This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills while ensuring exceptional care and upkeep of our clients’ aquatic systems. Please note: long-distance travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on marine and freshwater aquariums, including water changes, filtration servicing, livestock health checks, and equipment cleaning.
- Install new aquarium systems, ensuring correct setup of filtration, lighting, aquascaping, and water chemistry.
- Conduct pond maintenance, including pump and filter servicing, water quality management, and seasonal care tasks.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to water quality, livestock health, and equipment performance.
- Safely handle and transport aquatic livestock as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of services completed, water test results, and any issues identified.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients to explain maintenance procedures, provide advice, and ensure satisfaction with services.
- Drive a company van to various client locations; uphold safety and professionalism while representing the company.
- Participate in ongoing training to expand technical knowledge in aquatic care, equipment, and system design.
- Undertake long-distance travel when required to service clients across wider regions.
Requirements
- Previous experience in aquarium or pond maintenance, aquaculture, marine biology, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of/or interest in learning water chemistry, aquatic livestock care, and life support systems.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and confidence interacting with clients.
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- Practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
- Ability to manage physical tasks such as lifting equipment and performing manual maintenance duties.
- Training will be provided for candidates with the right attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to professional development.
