Job Details
We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, hands-on Research Associate to implement commercial genome editing technologies in aquaculture. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Duties:
- Internationally and domestically implement commercial scale gene modifications and treatments at aquaculture facilities, and at the CAT-San Diego laboratory.
- Lab duties to include PCR/qPCR, Gene expression and fish growth studies.
- Foster client relations on site and maintain communication with clients on regular basis.
Requirements
The following qualifications and attributes are necessary for this role:
- BS degree with experience in a relevant scientific disciplines.
- Knowledge and experience in molecular biology techniques including genotyping, PCR, DNA/RNA isolation, primer design, qPCR, and in vitro RNA synthesis.
- Willingness to travel up to 4 months per year to perform duties on location.
- Possession of valid passport, drivers license, and ability to travel internationally.
- Willing to participate in fish tissue dissection.
The following qualifications and attributes are desirable for this role:
- Expertise in CRISPR/Cas9 and/or other genetic engineering tools and techniques.
- Experience with aquatic organism breeding/aquaculture and microinjection of embryos.
- Training in developmental biology, microscopy, and fish biology.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects effectively within a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
