Sustainability Teacher - Aquaponics

The Center for Sustainable Development is actively seeking a Sustainability Teacher with a specialty in Aquaponics to join the Food Security Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Co-manage the 3,000 square foot Aquaponics Facility with the Aquaponics Technician.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans on aquaponics, and food security to students ranging from primary school to college level curriculum.
• Co-advise the Island School research course.
• Work with the Sustainability team on delivering internal projects.
• Promote and develop local business connections and partnerships that lead to growth of sustainable industries on Eleuthera.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Every member of the team is an educator and a spokesperson for the Organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Aquaculture, Aquaponics, or demonstrated practical experience of equal value in a related field.
• Ability to live in a small, remote location. Work and live in an intentional community.
• Professional demeanour and desire to work on an ecologically friendly campus.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience

• 2+ years of project management experience.

Communication Skills

• Strong verbal and written skills required.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Work, PowerPoint required.

• Able to survive and thrive in a small and tight-knit community located in a remote part of The Bahamas.
