Fisheries Certification Program Administrator

(Remote: strong preference for US West Coast) Full Time

The fisheries certification team currently comprises six full-time staff members, all working remotely, and works with roughly a dozen subcontractors to manage a portfolio of approximately 50 fishery certification projects around the world. We have a strong science-based ethos and high standards for quality processes and products. Despite working remotely, we maintain regular communication via virtual channels and take periodic opportunities to connect in person.

 

We are seeking a full-time Program Administrator to join our Fisheries Certification Team. Working remotely, the successful candidate will serve an important support role performing administrative tasks for our Fisheries certification programs.

 

Specific responsibilities and desired skills and qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare MSC, CSI and FISH SC fishery assessment documents such as contracts, subcontracts, work completion certificates (as requested) and stakeholder announcements using MRAG Americas provided templates;
  • Liaise with MRAG Americas project teams and MSC, CSI or FISH SC staff to ensure that assessment announcements and other documents required as part of the certification process are accurate, published and disseminated to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner;
  • Update and maintain files in the MSC Ecert database and the MRAG Americas SharePoint directory for all fishery assessments and surveillance audits;
  • Draft and issue fishery certificates using established MRAG Americas templates;
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to set quality benchmarks, related to the fulfillment of the MSC, RFM and FISH Standard for Crew Standards and Certification Requirements;
  • Implement existing QC processes and work with the Accreditation Manager to develop new ones where necessary, to ensure defined requirements and timeframes are always met;
  • Maintain and track assessor/auditor training records; and
  • Review systems and processes and suggest improvements where needed.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ work experience as an administrative assistant or similar role preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, strict adherence to deadlines
  • Strong copy-editing skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work collaboratively in small, geographically dispersed teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint applications.
  • Ability to learn and maintain web-based applications quickly and accurately.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with remote work
  • Experience in fisheries or seafood supply chain a plus
