Responsibilities

  • Assist with monitoring of upstream and downstream fish passages at Brookfield owned hydroelectric dams on rivers in Maine consistent with established Operation and Maintenance plans.
  • Daily operation of fish lifts to capture, sort, and count various species of migratory and resident fish.
  • Migratory fish species will be transported a short distance upstream in tanks hauled by truck and trailer.
  • Monitor eelways for proper water flow, remove debris, change batteries for water systems, etc.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure that all data collected are accurate and complete.
  • Assist with fish passage studies.
  • This position will often require working longer than 8 hours per day.
  • This position will require working weekends and holidays.

Requirements

Required Skills
 

  • Must be highly motivated and have the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others.
  • Must be able to learn identify a variety of migratory and resident fish species.
  • Ability to keep data organized and error free.
  • Must have good time management skills.
  • Must be able to identify safety and environmental hazards, and then prepare and follow job safety plans appropriate for all work.
  • Must make safety the highest priority in performing all work activities.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
