Job Details

We are seeking a passionate Marine Biologist to join our team in Bimini Bay. This full-time, on-site role blends scientific research with youth education, supporting both marine conservation and the Guardians of Tomorrow programme. The successful candidate will conduct fieldwork, monitor ecosystems, and mentor high school students through immersive, scenario-driven learning experiences.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork and monitor coral reefs, mangroves, and fish populations in Bimini Bay.
  • Analyze ecological data and contribute to sustainable fisheries management and conservation initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and advise on ecological impact for stakeholders and community partners.
  • Design and deliver marine biology curriculum modules for high school students.
  • Lead interactive lessons, workshops, and snorkel-based field sessions to build marine literacy.
  • Develop scenario-driven learning experiences (e.g., reef health assessments, fish population surveys).
  • Create assessment tools (quizzes, evaluations, reflection journals) to measure student progress.
  • Integrate GuardianReady™ safety tiers into student training, ensuring compliance and water safety.
  • Supervise aquatic activities with a focus on risk management and emergency protocols.
  • Represent OGI in school partnerships, parent sessions, and community outreach events.
  • Collaborate with OGI leadership to refine programme goals and align with national swim curriculum.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.

Strong expertise in marine ecosystems, fish physiology, and ecological management.

Experience in education, youth mentorship, or curriculum design.

Ability to translate complex science into engaging, age-appropriate lessons.

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Diving certification and comfort leading student snorkel excursions (preferred).

Familiarity with Bahamas Swim curriculum and local ecological challenges (a plus).
