Job Details
As a Sandy River Smolt Monitoring Program Fisheries Technician (Biological Science Assistant) in Clackamas, Oregon, you will:

Conduct daily trap checks at several rotary screw trap sites to enumerate and sample juvenile salmon and steelhead in the Sandy River basin

Drive a State-issued vehicle to remote sampling sites near Zigzag, OR
-
Follow protocols to record fish data
-
Identify, measure, weigh, and mark juvenile salmon and steelhead.

Inspect, maintain, and repair field sampling equipment and trap components
-
This position requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis. Position will require work on weekends. This position mainly conducts field work in and around streams and can be physically demanding
Requirements
Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:

Experience maintaining and repairing field equipment

Data entry experience
-
Experience identifying and enumerating juvenile salmonids

Experience operating rotary screw traps
-
Anyone who has or is in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
