As a Junior Engineer, you’ll play an important role in supporting our team to deliver innovative aquaculture solutions and help develop the Research and Development strategy of Landing. You’ll assist in designing and optimizing Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), performing research, and contributing to the success of client projects. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow their technical skills, gain hands-on experience, and make a meaningful impact in the aquaculture industry. You’ll work closely with our team of experts, learning from their experience while contributing fresh ideas and energy to our projects.

 

The Role

 

Landing is looking to hire a junior engineer who will assist with the running projects of the company but also help in the R&D department. A split is expected of about 25% of the time spent in the R&D projects, and 75% with running projects, but always with flexibility according to the needs of the company and the guidance of the Operations Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities as RAS engineer:

  • Assisting in designing and engineering Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Conducting research and analysis to support feasibility studies and system optimization.
  • Preparing technical documentation and reports for client projects.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure projects meet quality standards and client expectations.
  • Supporting construction and commissioning tasks, work in the workshop and assembly installations to learn the full project lifecycle.
  • Contacting partners and suppliers (procurement)

Your Key Responsibilities as R&D engineer:

· Assisting with Landing’s R&D strategy and processes

· Assisting with the company's research projects.

· Assisting with creating and controlling research project budgets, including budget auditing.

· Assisting in writing and project proposals.

· Communicating and disseminating project activities, with potential travelling to conferences and trade shows within the scope of the R&D projects.

· Conducting research tasks as part of running R&D projects.

· Writing and submitting project reports as required internally, by project partners or funding authorities.

· Managing the lab’s daily operation, including equipment upkeep and compliance with health and safety.

· Supporting the leadership team in applying for licenses and permits to conduct trials.

 

Requirements

You’re a perfect fit if:

  • You are legally allowed to work in the EU.
  • You have graduated with a degree in Aquaculture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s), and have at least 2 years of professional experience in the sector of aquaculture.
  • You have a foundational understanding of aquaculture principles, including water quality, fish biology, and RAS technologies.
  • You’re eager to learn and thrive in dynamic, hands-on environments.
  • You’re proficient with tools like Microsoft 365, including Excel, and have strong mathematical skills.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is a plus.
  • You’re a proactive team player who isn’t afraid to ask questions and take initiative.
