Job Details

The Health & Safety Coordinator oversees the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System. This person collaborates with management and departments to identify, prevent, and mitigate risks across onshore and offshore aquaculture operations.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
  • Collaborate closely with Management and all Departments to identify hazards, assess occupational risks and opportunities, and define preventive and corrective measures.
  • Conduct and update occupational risk assessments in high-risk environments (marine farms, offshore installations, heavy equipment, work at height, adverse weather conditions).
  • Contribute to the establishment and monitoring of OH&S objectives and performance indicators.
  • Support the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, including root cause analysis and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote worker participation, training, and awareness in line with ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Safety Officer, Occupational Doctor, and relevant authorities.
  • Participate in internal audits, inspections, and management reviews.
  • Monitor compliance with OH&S legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of health & safety culture and performance.

Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental, or other relevant technical field.
  • Proven experience with ISO 45001 or other OH&S management systems.
  • Experience in high-risk operational environments (aquaculture, marine operations, shipping, construction, or heavy industry will be considered an asset).
  • Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to travel to company sites and production facilities.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written (proposals, reports, documentation) and spoken.
  • Proficient use of MS Office and reporting tools.
