Primary objective Assist with the development of policies and advice to Government, key client groups and the public on the sustainable management of aquatic resources in the NT
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support the development and implementation of policies and frameworks to ensure the sustainable use of the Northern Territory’s fish and aquatic resources. 2. Manage project activities ensuring outcomes align with legislative, departmental and government objectives. 3. Collect, organise, and analyse information to assist in providing evidence-based advice. 4. Prepare accurate and well-structured reports and correspondence to support senior staff and project delivery. 5. Engage with stakeholders, including industry, the community, and Indigenous groups, to support project and policy outcomes. 6. Participate in team planning, learning, and knowledge-sharing activities to contribute to a positive and productive work environment
Requirements
Essential
1. Experience assisting with project coordination tasks, including organising activities, tracking progress, and providing support to ensure timely completion of work. 2. Ability to analyse information and apply sound judgement to support the development of policies, strategies or legislation. 3. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders to support project delivery. 4. Good written communication skills, with the ability to prepare accurate and well-presented documents and correspondence. 5. Ability to manage workloads under supervision and contribute effectively to team priorities.
Desirable
1. Degree in science, natural resource management or agribusiness from a recognised tertiary institution. 2. Experience in fisheries management or a similar natural resource management field
