WWF-Myanmar is now inviting applications for Mangrove-Friendly Aquaculture (mud crab fattening) Trainer, home-based with a field visit to the project site in Ayeyarwady region.  

The project aims to promote sustainable, climate‑resilient livelihoods by providing technical training on Mangrove‑Friendly Aquaculture (MFA), with a specific focus on mud crab fattening for Community Forest User Group (CFUG) members. The assignment will deliver comprehensive MFA training to 300 CFUG members in the Ayeyarwady Region, strengthening their capacity in quality-focused crab fattening techniques, sustainable feeding practices, and integrated forest management. This approach ensures that livelihood activities offer a direct incentive for mangrove conservation and restoration. 

The trainer will be responsible for 

 

  • Develop a tailored training manual with appropriate visual aids (in Myanmar language) specifically for Mud Crab Fattening. The manual must be submitted in a digital (soft copy) format after 1 to 2 weeks of contract date. 
  • Deliver training across 10 separate sessions with approximately 30 participants for each session depending on the geographic location of CFUG members to ensure high-quality, hands-on learning.  
  • Conducting pre- and post- training assessments to assess knowledge improvement. 
  • Prepare and submit training reports with recommendations. 

Duration of assignment

The contract duration will be from the first week of March 2026. The total working days should not exceed 45 days during the assignment period. The trainer will be carrying out some visits to the Ayeyarwady Region. 

 

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Aquaculture, Environmental Science, or related fields. Equivalent field experience (10+ years) will be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Mud Crab (Scylla serrata) aquaculture, with a specific focus on fattening techniques.
  • Proven understanding of mangrove ecosystems and the principles of Mangrove-Friendly Aquaculture (MFA). 
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting technical training for rural communities or CFUGs. 
  • Ability to create simple, visual, and highly practical training manuals. 
  • Myanmar Language: Fluent (written and spoken) is mandatory for training delivery and manual development. English: Professional proficiency is required for reporting to the project team.
