Position Overview:

Cypress Point Oyster Company is seeking a dependable, motivated Oyster Technician to join our farm crew. This is an entry-level, hands-on position and the most common pathway into professional shellfish aquaculture. Oyster Technicians work as part of a small team performing daily farm operations on the water and shoreside. With experience and demonstrated performance, this role can advance to senior technician or crew lead positions.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of oyster farming gear
• Tumble, grade, count, and bag oysters according to farm protocols
• Assist with harvest preparation and execution
• Monitor oyster condition and report concerns to leadership
• Maintain clean and organized work areas on vessels, docks, and other facilities
• Safely work aboard small boats and docks in varying weather conditions
• Operate power tools and mechanized equipment
• Follow all farm safety protocols
• Adhere to shellfish food safety requirements
• Communicate hazards, equipment issues, or mistakes promptly and honestly

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation and the ability to report on time
• Ability to swim and work in open water
• Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and rough conditions
• Ability to lift 50–60 lbs repeatedly
• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and variable hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in aquaculture, commercial fishing, or marine trades
• Boat handling
• SCUBA experience
• CPR/First Aid
• Mechanical aptitude
