A one-year Biologist position is available at the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, Tropical Aquaculture Laboratory. We are seeking a Biologist to assist with identifying aquaculture production techniques for commercially important aquatic mosses. The project initiates the development of aquaculture techniques for aquatic mosses in Florida’s aquaculture production industry. Primary duties include:
- Building aquaculture systems for aquatic moss production experiments
- Conducting experiments on techniques for growing aquatic mosses
- Evaluating growth and survival data from experiments
- Examining commercial scale production of aquatic mosses
- Transfer experimental findings to Florida’s aquatic plant production industry
Requirements
The position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biology, aquaculture, fish and/or plant management, or a closely related natural resource field. Candidates must also have a driver’s license and be able to work in a hot and humid environment. Preference will be given to applicants with aquaculture system experience, prior aquatic plant/fish experience, a demonstrated ability to conduct research, and/or work independently.
