Hatchery Manager

Job Details

Seeking a vannamei RAS shrimp Hatchery Manager for a small, self sufficient hatchery & farm project 55 miles east of San Diego. We have the hatchery equipment, building and design. We are looking for a hatchery manager to help finalize the layout, protocols and execution. This candidate will be asked to manage and condition broodstock, grow small quanitities of microalgae, test water quality and train and manage 2-4 staff. Given the small quanity production, this person must be able to multi-task. 

We are looking for:

• ⁠A hands on problem solver focused on production and efficiency
• legal resident of the US or concrete plan to legally work in the US
• experience with shrimp hatchery science
• ⁠interested in living on or near a 160 acre ranch near Americas finest city
• ⁠English language reading, writing and working skills, though we can work up to fluency. 
• wants the potential to grow with the company.

Requirements

• Must have some education in aquaculture. A higher education (Bachelors or Masters) is preferred but not necessary. 
• 3+ years hatchery experience
• 2+ years with vannamei shrimp production
• Experience with microalgae production
• Computer skills to manage Excel, Word, DropBox, Email, Scheduling Apps, Project Management Software, controls monitoring systems, etc. 
• Hands on skills and willingness to troubleshoot farming equipment.
• An open mind to learning new things.
