Job Details
As a fishing technician, you will be part of the section's work with the collection, processing and quality assurance of biological data. Your tasks will include, among other things:
- Sailing with commercial ships
- Participation in research cruises at sea
- Participation as a train leader on heavy voyages
- Collection of samples in both ports and on research projects
- General reprocessing of biological samples, primarily fish
- Assist researchers with special tasks
The work takes place primarily at sea on commercial ships and in DTU Aqua's laboratories in Lyngby, where data is processed in close collaboration with colleagues.
Part of the work is carried out under the EU's Data Collection Framework.
Requirements
Has a relevant background/education, e.g. as a former fisherman, fishing technologist or similar- Has distinct knowledge of Danish fishing, preferably with relevant sailing papers ( coast skipper, certificate of competence mm).
- Has experience with fish species
- Has sailing experience on both commercial ships and marine research ships
- Thrives in an interdisciplinary collaboration with both technicians, researchers and international partners
- Can work independently and structured
- Wants to acquire new methods and tools
- Can adapt to new tasks
