We are looking for a dedicated Aquatic Scientist to join Trinity Consultants Canada Water & Ecology. Your role will require you to bring a high standard of scientific excellence to your daily work. The following responsibilities will be in your domain:

• Supporting the planning and implementation of water monitoring and aquatic assessment projects and field programs; primarily in the Yukon, but also potentially across Canada.
• Participating in and leading water quality monitoring and aquatic resource field studies, including preparing and organizing field equipment and supporting field data collection.
• Conducting assessments focused on fish habitat, fish communities and health, integrating elements in areas such as geomorphology, limnology, hydrology, water/sediment quality, and benthic invertebrate communities.
• Conducting water sampling programs, including surface water, groundwater, and hydrological monitoring.
• Managing data contributing to / leading report development.
• Contributing expertise to large multi-disciplinary projects in collaboration with senior staff, clients, government agencies, First Nations, regulators, and other project partners.
• Representing Trinity Consultants Canada - Water & Ecology in the scientific community through high-quality deliverables, industry engagement, and participation in technical conferences.

Requirements

• Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.), Environmental Professional (EP), or equivalent professional designation (or eligibility for registration).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, including relevant field assessments and data management.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis
• Experience in the mining sector is an asset.
• Experience designing and implementing baseline assessment programs, including the selection, establishment, and monitoring of water, sediment, fish, fish habitat, and benthic invertebrate community sampling stations.
• Effective analytical and technical editing and review skills, and ability to ensure the delivery of high-quality reports and proposals.
• Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences including team members, clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics.
• Hands-on expertise in planning and conducting aquatic field programs using a variety of sampling techniques for water, sediment, benthic invertebrates, fish, and fish habitat, including the design, establishment, and sampling of benthic invertebrate community monitoring stations; familiarity with QA/QC protocols and data integrity standards.
• Experience operating boats and outboard motors in support of aquatic field programs is an asset.
• Ability and willingness to travel to remote or northern project sites and conduct fieldwork in variable weather, terrain, and seasonal conditions.
