Job Details
As part of the research project EcoXTRACT® which brings together INRAE, the University of Avignon and the company EcoXtract, you will be welcomed(e) within the Experimental Rodent and Fish Infectiology Unit (UE0907 IERP) of the INRAE campus in Jouy en Josas. The unit is an integral part of the Paris Saclay Institute of Animal Sciences (SAPS) and the national research infrastructure Emerg’in. At the interface between academic research and players in the sector, it offers access to experimental devices in a confined environment and to biological resources (species of agronomic interest and zebrafish) for the study in vivo emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases.
The ambition of the project EcoXTRACT is to support the oilseed and protein sector in its transition towards an environmentally friendly activity, by providing it with an eco-efficient solution for the industrial production of organic vegetable oils and proteins, to date a major issue for the food security of the world population. Studies on aquaculture species bring together INRAE experts from different disciplines (infectiology, toxicology and nutrition) with whom you will interact.
The IERP will be more particularly in charge of studying the impact of experimental feeds on the health of rainbow trout by characterizing zootechnical performance (growth, CI...), intestinal health, toxicology and susceptibility/resistance to infections. The gut microbiota will also be characterized to define the link between the food, the host microbiota and the response to infection.
Missions :
The recruited candidate(e)e( will work within a collective of 20 agents )animal technicians, engineers, researchers and students( and under the authority of scientific managers. His/her main mission will be the implementation, monitoring and analysis of experiments linked to this project.
The main activities will be :
1/Implementation and implementation of experimental protocols
- Ensure fish feeding on a daily basis by ensuring the precision of the quantities distributed and rigorous monitoring of the various experimental feeds distributed.
- Ensure zootechnical monitoring of fish in a closed recycled circuit (sorting, weighing, enumeration, mortality record, samples, …) as well as maintenance of facilities (cleaning of accommodation structures and circuits) and traceability.
- Conduct experiments in infectious diseases: infection, daily monitoring of animals to note the appearance of clinical signs, behavioral changes and establish survival rates.
- Plan and carry out sampling campaigns for biological analyses.
- Collaborate with project researchers, engineers and technicians.
2/The organization and traceability of experiments
- Organize the different experimental stages
- Ensure traceability of procedures, observations and results.
- Complete laboratory notebooks, databases and monitoring documents.
3/Analysis and valorization of results
- Participate in the processing and analysis of experimental data (zootechnical performance, infectious diseases, toxicology, microbiota).
- Master and use software for the statistical processing of data collected from animals
- Format the results and write summary reports for project leaders.
- Present the results to the team
