OAS Aquarich Fisheries is on a mission to revolutionize African aquaculture with a sustainable, efficient, and African-tailored production system. As we scale up our operations, we seek a skilled and passionate hatchery supervisor to lead our hatchery unit and ensure optimal production performance.Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record in catfish hatchery production and management. The successful candidate will oversee the entire hatchery process from broodstock management to larval rearing, ensuring high survival and quality rates.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of the hatchery, including spawning, egg incubation, hatching, and nursery phases
Select, condition, and maintain high-quality broodstock
Ensure optimal water quality management and biosecurity standards
Supervise hatchery staff and ensure compliance with SOPs
Monitor and record hatchery data, production trends, and performance indicators
Collaborate with the production and feed departments to align outputs with stocking needs
Implement innovative and science-based hatchery techniques to improve yields and quality
Maintain hatchery facilities, equipment, and supplies
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience:Minimum of BSc in Fisheries and Aquaculture or any other related discipline.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in catfish hatchery production
Strong knowledge of broodstock management, hormonal induction, larval rearing, and water quality management
Proven ability to lead a team and work independently under minimal supervision
Good recordkeeping and reporting skills
Familiarity with biosecurity protocols and hatchery hygiene best practices
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of genetics or selective breeding practices
Experience in operating automated hatchery equipment
Basic understanding of nutrigenomics and larval nutrition is an added advantage
