WORKSHOP ON PLANNING STRATEGICALLY FOR MARKETING AND FINANCIAL SUCCESS OF AQUACULTURE BUSINESSES

Carole R. Engle, Ganesh Kumar

This workshop will focus on analysis of several different aquaculture business scenarios. Participants will practice their business analytical skills by working through various alternative solutions for hypothetical aquaculture businesses, based on sets of “records” presented. The emphasis will be on hands-on engagement of participants to increase their ability to analyze business performance each year and make strategic marketing decisions for improvement.

Workshop participants will have up to three hours to scrutinize marketing and financial datasets from which to develop specific short-term marketing, production, and financial goals. Thinking strategically about how to manage production in order to meet the price, volume, and demand characteristics of the business's key markets is key to business success. Annual scrutiny of financial, biological, marketing, and personnel performance is essential for success in today’s business climate.
