CHARACTERIZATION STRAINS OF GIANT GOURAMY FROM SOUTH KALIMANTAN JAMBI, MAJALENGKA, AND TASIKMALAYA (Osphronemus gouramy Lac.) BASED ON TRUSS MORPHOMETRIC

The first step in breeding program  of fast-growing varieties of giant gouramy is the collection and characterization of giant gouramy strains  to be used as a source of gene source in producing new variety of giant gouramy. Several strains and  varieties have been collected i.e. O. gouramy such as South Kalimantan (K), Jambi (J), Majalengka (M), and Tasikmalaya (T). The aim of this experiment  was to determine the morphological diversity among these collected strains using truss morfometrical method. Principal component analysis followed by cluster analysis were used to identify the pattern of morphological variability among strains and varieties.

During October 2015, 704 giant gouramy (O. gouramy) were collected from 12 family. The Fish used were 16 months old. The family were KK, JJ, MM, TT, KJ, KM, KT, JK, JM, MJ, MK, and TJ. The fish were 950.29±311.39 grams in weight. ldentiflkasi strain refers to Soewardi (1995). The method was conducted using morphometric measurements by determining the specific points along the body of the fish and then connect the dots so that the fish's body was divided into several space truss. We then measured the length of the lines in each cell. Truss morphometric characters holding carp made of eight points along the body and produce 16 characters truss (Setijaningsih, et al 2007).

Truss morphometric characters were observed in male and female candidates, a combination of all populations in the family, and discriminant analysis performed on all families.

Data were analyzed by using the character size of the program SAS and SPSS version 16. The results showed that dendrogram regarding the relationship between giant gouramy on the male and female show no 10 groups on the male and 10 groups on the female. 10 groups on the male that was the first group is that have the tree relationship between populations KK, MM and TT have the realitionship. The second group was the relationship between the first group JJ. The third group was the closest tree relationship between KJ and KM. 4 groups realitionship between KT and MJ. The Group 5 tree relationship occurred on four groups with JK. 6 groups nearest relationship occurs in Group 3 with Group 5. 7 groups nearest family tree occurs 6 groups with TJ. The group to 8 occurs the relationship to the group 2 with Group 7. The Group 9 tree relationship closest on JM and MK. The group is a group which have 10 farthest distance group 8 with Group 9. 10 groups on the female was the first group was that have the closest tree relationship between JK and TJ have tree relationship. The second group was the closest relationship between the population of KJ with KM. The third group had the closest tree relationship between KT and MJ. 4 groups nearest family tree between the group 2 with Group 3. The Group 5 tree relationship closest occurred on four groups with 1. 6 groups nearest relationship occurs on JM and MK. 7 groups nearest family tree occurs 6 with the group Group 5. Group to the 8 closest tree relationship occurs on the population of MM, TT, and HH. The Group 9 tree relationship closest to the group 8 and HH. The group is a group which have 10 farthest distance group 8 with Group 9.

On the pure galur closest family tree occurs on the population M, T, and K. The population of J have the farthest family. The family tree of entire populations indicates 10 groups. The first group shows the population M, T, and K have the nearest family. The second group nearest family place between first with the population J. The third group nearest family tree occurs on the population of JM and MK. 4 groups nearest family occurs on the KJ and KM. 5 groups occurs realitionship between JK and TJ. 6 groups occurs realitionship between MJ and KT. 7 groups nearest family tree occurs on the population of the group 5 and 6. 8 groups nearest family tree occurs on the group 4 and 7. 9 groups occur on the nearest family tree group 3 and to 7. 10 groups occur on the nearest family tree of the group 2 and 9. The population of the group 2 and Group 9 had the farthest genetic distance.
