Tilapia (Oreochromis sp), is one type of freshwater fish are very popular cultivated, either in cages / Net Floating Cage in the river or lake. Problems often encountered is the lack of quality seed, where the seed has maintained a slow growth with a low survival rate. Jambi Freshwater Aquaculture Center (JFAC) has to improve the quality broodstock of tilapia by way of introduction. Two types of tilapia were introduced from Japan are Kanagawa JICA Strain and Ibaragi Strain. Kanagawa JICA Strain with weight of 1.5 g / fish  and total length 3 cm. And Ibaragi strain with weight 0.78 g / ekor and total length 2 cm.

Furthermore, the fish through Quarantine fish by the Quarantine Station Sultan Taha Jambi conducted in JFAC Hatchery for 2 weeks. During Quarantibe process, fish fed as much as 5% of the weight of biomass with a protein content of 55%. Once the process is moved to the next step, fish reared in happa measuring 2 x 6 m for 1 month, and subsequently kept in concrite tanks measuring 120 m2. After sex selection in tilapia Ibaragi get as many as 238 male with the average male body weight of 520 g / fish, length of 28.5 cm and 206 females, with a weight of 330 g / fish, length 26.7 cm. While tilapia kanagawa many as 443 males with a mean weight of 600 g / fish with a length of 29.8 cm and females 661 fish and weighs 250 g / fish and a length of 23.6 cm. Performance Ibaragi parent fish had growth rates (SGR) of 2.68% per day, while tilapia kanagawa amounted to 2.96% per day, with the body have a flesh thick.
