SALINE MANAGEMENT TO BOOST GROWTH AND SURVIVAL RATE barramundi (Lates calcarifer) PHASE IN THE NURSERY RECIRCULATION SYSTEMS

Fish farming barramundi be hope in the future, because the demand for barramundi fillet meat enormously from America and Australia. Constraints faced in its development is the disease during the nursery so that the availability of seeds on a mass scale to be reduced. Nature white snapper euryhaline and katadromus, which spawn in the sea and estuaries and mangrove make as the breeding is able to live at high and low salinity. While salinity is one of the environmental parameters that affect metabolic processes and directly affect the growth and survival of fish. The nature perch makes these fish can live in any salinity, but the exact salinity management can accelerate the growth and survival rate of white snapper.

This activity was carried out in June - August 2015 was held at Space Separating the treatment. The first treatment using the system the way race with 31-33 ppt salinity and the second treatment using a recirculation system with a range of between 17-25 ppt salinity.

Engineering results obtained showed that the specific growth rate barramundi were maintained at 17-25 ppt salinity of 4.92% with a survival rate of 98%, while the growth rate barramundi at normal salinity 2.32% with a survival rate of 90%. Noting this, the results obtained suggested the use of salinity 17-25 ppt in fish nursery stage because it can accelerate the growth and increase the survival rate and accelerate the cycle in the nursery phase
