The utilization of brackishwater ponds in South Sulawesi is not optimized. The limitation such as production cost and a low carrying capacity of the ponds are the factors that usually experienced by fish farmers. Big expectation of the fish farmers to increased production through shrimp culture is challenged by operational cost and high risk of failure. Similarly with milkfish culture that has a long cycle period to farm. Therefore, another solution that becomes an alternative commodity for fish pond is Nile tilapia. To support the improvement of brackishwater ponds, seed supplies that have abilities for better adaptation is needed. Besides that, it also has fast grown rates and high survival rates. The result of the grow out experiment of nile saline hybrid BPBAPT, GIFT, and Sultana in brackishwater pond show that there is a different adaptation ability of species that significantly is affected in the end of farming period.
