PROBIOTIC UTILITY ON NILE TILAPIA (Oreochromis niloticus)  CULTURE IN THE DEEP WATER POND RESIRCULATED SYSTEM

Fish productivity can be increased using deep water pond technique. The purpose of this experiment was to examine the probiotic (Bacillus sp)  which  improves water quality and fish production in the deep water pond resirculated system. The experiment was conducted on eight concrete tanks with a size of 10m2 each. Each tank was completed by biological filter ad aeration. Two experiments were set up namely one using probiotic and the other without probiotic. Each treatment consisted of four replicates. The fish with size of 2-3 cm in total length were used. The stocking density was 150 ind./m2. The experiment was conducted for 112 days During the experiment, the water quality such as TAN and Nitrite was monitored.  Applying probiotic (Bacillus sp) showed no significantly different in term of SGR and absolute growth (Tabel 1) while absolute weight and productivity of nile tilapia (P<0.05) (Table 2). In addition to water quality such as total ammonia (TAN) and nitrite concentrations showed lower than that of without probiotic (Fig. 1). This indicated that the introducing probiotic on the deep water pond affect the weight, biomass, and water quality parameters such as total ammonia and nitrite.
