Pisang shrimp is an indigenous shrimp from western coast of Aceh and Simeleu Island.  This article report the performance of the shrimp in hatchery and traditional grow out pond had been conducted in BADC of Ujung Batee.

The number of 50 female and 29 male broodstock spawned and mated with and without eyestalk ablation. It was accounted for moulting, matured and spawning broodstock; produced egg and nauplii as well. Shrimp larvae was reared in concrete tank (10 m3) with stocking density 17-120 nauplii/L. The larvae was fed with Skeletonema, Chaetoceros, Thallasiosira, artificial feed and artemia nauplii. Egg produced from ablated and non-ablated female was insignificantly different i.e. 79.000-295.000 eggs with hatching rate 70%-74%. Survival rate of the larvae was 18%-48% (Figure 1). PCR test of broodstock and postlarva was WSSV negative.

Traditional polyculture of pisang shrimp and tilapia was conducted in 600 m2 earth pond. The stocking density of postlarvae was 8 ind/m2. Water did not exchange untill the end of culture except for seepage and transpiration and no aeration was provided. Salinity decreased when rainfall from 25 ppt ke 5 ppt. The first month the animals was rely on natural feed productivity. In the days 88th shrimp was harvested because showed hypoxia in the morning. The result showed 59 kg of shrimp and 10 kg of tilapia had been harvested (Table 1.). For traditional level of technology, this was satisfying result.
