This research was aimed to analyze the association between water quality and production of vannamei shrimp cultured under semi intensive in alluvial pond. One ponds of 3,000 m2 which its dike was covered with Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) which considered as treatment A; whereas another a 4,000 m2 pond with no cover was considered as treatment B. all ponds were stocked with PL 10 with density of 75 ind./m2.  Pond preparation was conducted prior to the study consisting pond bottom preparations based on the standard procedure for pond preparation. Water quality (salinity, pH, temperature and dissolved oxygen) were monitored in-situ; whereas concentrations of TOM, NH3-N, NO2-N, NO3-N, PO4-P, TSS and alkalinity were measured fortnightly. Mean concentrations of NO2-N, NO3-N, PO4-P, TOM, and TSS in the Treatment A were lower compared to that observed in Treatment B. In general, variables of quality during the study were in the accepted ranges for shrimp culture (Table 1). The pond production of Treatment A was 9,000 kg/ha with FCR was 1.18. In contrast, shrimp production of Treatment B was higher compared to that found in Treatment A (Figure 1), yet, had higher FCR, 1.20.
