OPTIMIZING SALINITY ON GROWTH AND SURVIVAL OF SAND GOBY (Oxyeleotris marmorata) REARED
Sand goby (Oxyeleotris marmorata) is the one freshwater fish has an economic value. Demand of this species have trended to increase both for domestic or export. The effort of sand goby culture has not established yet due to many hindrances such as low growth and survival. Salinity has linked on growth and survival. Salinity plays an important role in osmoregulation process. Exchange of cation and anion The purpose of this experiment is to determine the optimal salinity concentration on growth and survival of sand goby. The different of salinities as a treatment in this experiment were as followed A) Control; B) 1 ppt; C) 3 ppt; D) 5 ppt. Each treatment consisted of three replicates. The experiment was conducted for two months.
Salinity showed significantly different (P<0.05) on SGR and absolute weight among the treatments (Table 1). This indicated that 3 ppt salinity was better compared to the others on SGR and absolute weight.
